Do you have room for one more? I would love to get in on this. I have never done any bird hunting. You all would be a great group to learn from. Sorry man we accepted RSVPs up until 11am today... Lol. It's not until middle of January and I missed the cutoff already. Man, it must not meant to be.

I sleep great in my Summit Goliath. I try to get up as high as possible so I get a little sway, which rocks me right to sleep. I try to snore offer so the deer get used to the sound.
Joking aside, I do fall a sleep often but I feel very safe when I do. I always wear my harness. The only thing I have dropped from the stand while sleeping is my bow. That was before I hung my bow up.

Got a doe tonight. Im taking part in a deer reduction program in my local county's park system. Ive got access to 1/3 of a 400 acre property from today until Halloween. I'd planned on using today as a scouting mission. I wound up setting up in a creek bottom between a big thicket/over grown field ands some crops across the road. About 620 I had a fawn and doe come in. Few minutes later 3 more showed up. I took the doe that was solo. 23 yard shot, quartering to me a tad, double lung, she went about 40 yards and piled up. Thankful to get some meat in the freezer early. Nice! That's better than you planned it.

We are in the blind and ready to rock. He is so pumped and daddy is too. We had fun with the war paint. Now the deer and my boy need to do their parts. We will be out tomorrow morning if nothing goes down tonight. Fingers crossed.

My son and I are heading out this evening. He has a football game here in an hour.
Since this is his first hunt, we picked out a bullet and he wrote some stuff on it. I couldn't read it but he said it read, "I love guns and bucks".
Good luck youth!!!

I took 3 this morning for team 4, but totally forgot to take a picture. 3 little grays. I didn't realize that I grabbed the soft tip bullets and ended up taking the poor squirrels head clean off. Well it wasn't clean. Good thing I had some squirrel rounds in the truck. The 17hmr is a wonderful round when you use the right bullet. I have also noticed that I am way more accurate when resting against a tree, free hand is not my strong suit.
Mike
Edited to fix spelling. I'm going to blame that on my phone. Lol

I went out for an hour and half. The only things I saw were sweat bees and mosquitoes. Not one single squirrel. I need to try later in the morning.

Most of the times that everything gets quiet it is because a hawk or owl has flown in. Sometimes it's a coyote. This is what I have noticed.
