These are all great ideas.
This morning I checked my email and there was a response from one of the people I sent the letter to. They are happy to talk to me, this is a great sign. They noted how they like how I asked rather than just walking in and hunting. They have issues with hunters leaving trash and opening the gates and not closing them properly.
Hopefully this pans out.

So basically you drive the country until you find someone with land, then you stop the car and walk up to them? Is this right?
That seems kind of scary to me. Haha. I am not sure I have the veggies to try that.
Congrats on finding a method that works.

I finally took the plunge and sent out a few letters to local farmers around Indy. I know this is going to be a tough sale on finding hunting property without cash, but at least I gave it a shot.
I have received two responses thus far, neither positive but both men were respectful. One asked how I found out about his farm. I just told him it is as simple as looking up the local county gis. I think I would be dumbfound too if some weirdo sent me a letter about my property.
I got my fingers crossed for some positive news.
Has anyone tried this with success?

Living by eagle creek, I am seeing tons of bucks on a daily basis with antlers. It is just a matter of time before my truck gets a buck before me. Haha.

Hmm. That is a tough one. I might try to do an LED Array for more light. The SSII can pick up motion up to 55 feet or so, so it would be nice to have light out that far. That is really all I have thought about so far. I may still add that to this one.
Any suggestions?
As far as the camera, it was super simple. Basically solder 1 wire to the power button, 1 to the shutter, an a final to the common. Just a 3 wire hack.

This is the forum that got me interested in building my own trailcam. I ended up going with SnapShotSnipers SSII with a Sony W80. The hack was simple and setting the controller up was a piece of cake. The experience was nice for my first build, however, I will try to beef up my next one. After all parts, I was out less than $100, including camera. I got it used on craigslist and it works great. I thought I would post back some pictures that were taken in my yard on the 8th of Jan. I really didn't expect to see any deer, but she has been back 2 nights in a row. The first night she was there from 1 to 2, then the second night she came back around 3. This is pretty cool stuff. I live just off of 56th street and dandy trail, which is is on Eagle Creek Res and next to the park. Hopefully I will continue to see them. Here they are. Hello Please let me know if the images still do not work for you. They worked for me. Thanks. Mike

I have used the Lone wolf climber a couple times. I will never use it again. It is nice and compact, but that is all that is nice for a guy my size. I am 6'2, 250, so it makes it a bit tough for me climbing up. You pretty much have to be able to do pull ups and knee raises to get up a tree. I like to get up as high as I can too. I think I went up 10 feet last time and said screw it, good enough. Obviously I am out shape, so this really hurt my review of it.
I will stick with my Summit Goliath. It is light weight an can hold up to 350 pounds. That gives me room to grow another 100 pounds. Haha. I am sure my wife would appreciate that.

My experience was amazing.
I wore glasses for 13 years, and started right after college. I had astigmatism in both eyes but one was far worse than the other. Just like everyone with glasses, I couldnt stand I've fishing or hunting with my lenses fogging up constantly, so this year I finally looked into LASIK.
I had my exam and surgery done at LASIK plus at keystone at the crossing. The initial exam was just as easy as a regular eye exam, but they discussed financial options. Which was everything from insurance to their own financing program. We luckily had both options. My wife's insurance covers 15% and the red we could finance from them for 2 years at 0%. It is really hard to pass up 0% so of course we went with that.
The day I showed up for the procedure they had some issues with the machine, so they rescheduled everyone's procedures for that day and gave us all 25% off the total cost for our inconvenience. That was fine with me. I'll take that. However it wasn't the happy/safe felling I was hoping to have out of a procedure on my eyes. I am a programmer, so I understand software can encounter problems and I don't get to upset with it.
One I was rescheduled, I put the drops in my eyes again and was ready to go. When I went back to the procedure room, I was very comfortable and felt I was in good hands. Again, since I am a tech guy, I ask a ton of questions. The doctor and helpers were amazing answering My questions and kept me informed throughout the entire procedure. The strangest part was when your vision goes completely black. This lasts like 15 seconds and is due to the pressure put on your eye, which cuts off the blood supply.
The procedure lasted all of 5 minutes, this was not the prk procedure. Walking out, my vision was still really bad and this was due to my astigmatism. I was told many people walk out with 20/20. However I did not.
I did not take the drug they said most people take to help them sleep. I was tired enough, do I was out by the time I even got home. A 15 minute drive.
After waking up 6 hours later, my eyes were sore but not bad. I kept te drops in my eyes to keep it wet and everything was fine.
I showed up to my first followup appointment, and everything looked good except my vision was still not good. It took about 2 weeks for my vision to finally come around to where I was with glasses.
My eyes are great now, no more fogging up while hunting or ice fishing. Yes!!!

Well I got it ordered. Thank you for the suggestions on the savoys and powder. I went with the triple 7 pellets and 300 gr power belt aero lite sabots. I guess I will try them first and see how it shoots. I was tod the 300 gr sabots would be hard to get down in the barrel, so he said to use crisco on the sabots. Anyone ever heard of that before. I will try it without and see if it truly that difficult to get in there.
Thanks for the suggestions. Mike
