It may alleviate some concerns especially fears of folks emptying 30 round magazines from AK-47's. It won't do anything for those who fear some high caliber bullets travelling long distances to homes. Again it is not individual calibers that are the problem. It is high capacity magazines in autoloaders for deer hunting.

It also authorizes the following:
Authorizes the use of purple marks to post real property against trespassers.
To be clear I am not against HPRs but I do want restrictions on autoloaders as far as magazine capacity. It already sounds like a firefight on opening day. Seems to me the 60 day comment period and study by the DNR should overrule some legislator whose presenting this proposal.

HB1231 includes language the Natural Resources Commission denied last year for inclusion of high power rifles. Senator Arnold or one of his friends apparently wants to use some HPR but this allows for everything from .243 on up with no limits on actions or magazine capacities. The bill will be heard in the House Natural Resources Committee next Monday.

Not a peep from the Commission. The current plan goes through the 2016 deer season. I would guess that there will be a proposal coming soon for another 5 year plan.

Meeting notes from today:
1. Existing officers were re-elected 2. Director Clark reported on SB109 and 195 that creates regulation of high fence hunting and private ownership of wild animals. 3. Commissioner Early stated that the Advisory Committee would be sending proposals forward regarding the in-lieu fee for developers and fisheries concerns about damage motor boats were causing and may require moving boating zones further out to prevent damage to shallow lake bottoms. 4. NRC will meet on May 12/13 at Falls of the Ohio. Fish and Wildlife has removed certain freshwater lakes from Public Freshwater Lakes list. 5.New property managers - request withdrawn 6. The Rule Adoption process was reviewed at length. Interesting 15 minutes on the process of how a rule gets adopted by the NRC.

SB109 will go to the full Senate for debate and amendment tomorrow as second reading of the bill takes place. There are already 7 amendments filed. Hard telling what's going to happen but tomorrow should be exciting... iga.in.gov/legislative/2016/calendars/senate/09/

This likely won't get a hearing and will die in committee.

Sadly the first Senate hearings are next Monday and I won't be able to attend. I think they are on 195 and 109 the wild animal bill and the high fence bill respectively.
