I would be up for that and I know an expert button pusher for the pigeon thrower. I believe it is voice activated. h.h.

I like the skeet competition Woody....... Since it sounds like a lot of guys want to get to the range, do we want to "suggest" a range time so that we all have time to be in a group to get to know each other and stuff, then move on to the other areas? Suggestion would be eat lunch at noon, and then hit the ranges afterwards? ?

High overall individual gets an [glow=red,2,300] Atta Boy!![/glow] here on Hunting indiana.. Not sure if we can reserve time or just show up and wait our turns.

Since i don't have much to do today i will go to the Roush Lake range which is exactly like Atterbury's and see if they allow reservations. If they do then we need to come up with a time. h.h.

went to the Roush Lake range and found out a few things.
1. Safety Glasses and ear protection required.
2. You can use your own targets, clays or throwers or rent theirs. Not sure Atterbury does this as the shotgun range at Roush isn't a full trap course. It only has 4 stationary positions. Rangemaster told me he thinks Atterbury has a full trap and skeet range. Prices at Roush were 50 clays plus thrower for 9.00. Throwers are not voice activated like i was told, someone has to push the button.
3. They have small wagons to carry your shooting equipment from vehicles to the range.
4. Cease fire on the range every 15 mins to attend targets.
5. They sell rifle, shotgun and pistol ammo at a fairly good price.
6. They don't take reservations. Its on a first come bases, but at this time of the year its not that busy. I was there about 1 hr and they had only 5 shooters. The rangemaster told me Sept and Oct are the busiest months. He also said late afternoon is usually the busiest.
Here is a copy of the range rules:
Effective August 25, 2005. These rules are made available to users by handout and posted at the registration area.
All users entering fenced area must register with range officer and pay the required fee before approaching in front of the building. All users must have eye and ear protection.
After registering, users will not .enter around the firing line (benches) during cease-fire or target change. They must stay behind the yellow line. Also, they will not gather equipment and leave the range during a cease-fire or target change. Firearm muzzles must be pointed up when transporting to and from range.
Shooters will be allowed to enter the firing line only during live-fire sessions. Center fire rifles and slug guns are not allowed on the 25-yard range except for a few sighting shots. Notify the Range Officer if you wish to take sighting shots.
Shot shells may only be shot on the Shotgun Range. A patterning range is available. Notify the Range Officer if you wish to use this range. This area is for serious evaluation of shot shell loads only. Shot size must be legal for waterfowl, turkey, or smaller.
Brass collection is allowed under the following conditions: Shooters may pick their own brass after requesting Range Officer to announce a cease-fire and permit individuals extra time to pickup brass.
Air or C02 propelled BB/pellet guns will follow the same rules as all other firearms.
Toy guns are not allowed on the range.
Handguns may not be worn in a holster or concealed.
Use of alcohol or intoxicating drugs on the range is prohibited. Individuals suspected of being under the influence of intoxicating substances will not be admitted to the range. Range Officers are allowed to use their own judgment.
Range Officers will call ail cease-fires unless an unsafe condition exists and then anyone can call a cease-fire.
During cease-fires: Firearms shall be unloaded, actions opened and benched and shooters will step behind yellow line. No one will be handling firearms, ammunition, or magazines anywhere during cease-fires.
Muzzleloaders with powder and a ball or other projectile in the barrel are considered loaded even though they are not capped or primed. Muzzleloaders will be loaded from a measure anc not from a powder container. Powder loaders will be closed when not in use. Cannot load from a can or a horn. Powder loaders must be spring-operated for closing.
Depending on age and competency, the Range Officer may determine or request that minors be directly supervised while shooting.
Rapid fire, shooting from the hip, shooting target holders or other range equipment, debris, or other objects other than a properly posted paper target are all considered unsafe behavior.
Fully automatic firearms, 50-caliber BMG, and pistol grip shotguns are not allowed on this range.
The RANGE OFFICER, as an authorized representative of the property manager, may require a person to leave the range if the rules are not followed or if firearms are not handled safely.

Thanks for the info H.H. Do we want a "sign-up" for teams or have the Hunting-Indiana 2007 Skeet-Trap Draft while stuffing our faces @ the picnic? ?

Thanks for the info H.H. Do we want a "sign-up" for teams or have the Hunting-Indiana 2007 Skeet-Trap Draft while stuffing our faces @ the picnic? ? I think maybe we should wait and see how many are wanting to shoot, then draw names out of a hat for teams.

How many would be interested in shooting the archery range? I usually shoot their scheduled shoots and used to be a member of their club. I haven't yet asked, but might be able to get their range set up at least partially a day early, so we could shoot it while there. It would probably mean I'd need to camp there overnight for target security, but I have no objection to doing that.
I would think that we'd need to kick in an appropriate shoot fee, like ten each for the whole forty targets, or half that if we just want twenty, to compensate the club for the target wear. They generally spend most of their gate on targets to keep a supply of good ones, so it would only be fair to pay our share of the wear and tear.
If we have several guys interested, I'll call the officers and see if it can be done. They do have some limitations on their own usage of the range area, but I think this might be permissable within their agreement with the property manager.
If there's just a few of us wanting to play with the bows for a while, I can bring a bag target for field or target point use. I'm pretty sure we'd be OK using the area of the range that the club normally uses for their practice targets as a temporary range area for the purpose. Shooting the bows in the actual picnic area would probably be strongly discouraged. Also, I suspect that any broadhead use would be over the top anywhere in the park unless a hunting season is in progress.
Also, regarding the golf course....I haven't played there yet, but I could call for tee times. I'll need some estimate of the number of players interested and their preference for times to see if we can set something up.
I didn't speak up earlier about attending because I had a couple of schedule conflicts, but they're cleared up now and I expect to be there and play with some of my toys, too. I live about forty minutes away, and am fairly familiar with the place.
So, fellow Archers and Golfers,......signup time! Give me some idea of a head count for these activities and a time preference, and I'll be glad to see what I can arrange.

My main objective is to meet members and eat a lot! lol I want to shoot trap and skeet and then maybe some archery if there is time. There are only so many hours of daylight and it might be hard to do all of the activities.
Are we going to have supper there too? If so then we need to make sure they food stays hot or cold so it doesn't spoil. h.h.

Russ, First off I am very glad that you can make it. It will be good to see you again and shake your hand. No golf for me, but I'll shoot a target or two with you - if you don't mind a crossbower in your group. Suggestion - Since we have so much going on why not make it a ten target course and if we buzz through it quickly enough we can always shoot the same ten again. I'm sure us older folks wont remember the yardages. All this going on we might have to actually do some planning to get most of it in.

After that we just eat until its all gone or we pop, whichever comes first.. It does look like we are gouing to have a good turn out. EVERYONE - Don't forget to bring your "tradin' stuff.." and pictures to share..

JKD suggested sign up sheets at the Get Togteher for trap, skeet, range, golf and bow range.
From the interest in each we can designate a time for each
I'll make some up sign up sheets..

........... I will shoot some just to make Travis look bad. What do you think... three or four shots will do it? To give Travis a fighting chance we'll get Art to back him up. When ( not if ) Travis misses Art can bust his bird for him... with the .410 of course.
