Yep, me too. The present system is outdated - it's time to get rid of it.

Before I moved to Kentucky, this past Spring; I hunted last fall on my property in Indiana. I got my Deer on the second day of the season, and took it to the closest checking station. They didn't even go out to my car to examin the Deer! They just handed me a metal tag and that was it. That's all they are required to do........... Before leaving the check station, you must affix the permanent seal to the carcass.... (from the reg book)

Indiana has way too many stupid rules in their DNR like you can only use a .30-30 in a handgun, but NOT in a Rifle!!

i am also in agreement we need tele-check!! i am located in porter county just outside laporte county(Michigan City) i hunt laporte county we have no deer check station in Michigan City so i have to go to laporte(14 miles +/- to the local bait store that closes the doors by 5-6 pm so now i will have to drive all the way to Hudson Lake which is about 35 miles give or take just to get the deer checked in after a evening hunt with the warm weather you cant wait until the AM to check it in !!! they really need something better alot of guys dont get there deer out of the woods until 7-8 pm whats a guy to do!! ( and gals) I'm in the same boat... Fortunately, they check in on the Park Property for Reduction hunts. FWIW, don't they check-in at Kingsbury FWA?

So thought I would get an All day Sat hunt in this coming weekend; but started to think: I'm flying out on Sunday to NJ, so if I do get a late deer on Sat than I have no way to check it in. Could ask the wife (yeah right). I have to say that this check in requirement serves no purpose; what information can't be sent by phone or Internet. It's worst with the warm weather; you have to wait until you checkin before butching so if you took a late Sunday deer and had to work Monday .. than you have the issue of trying to keep a whole deer cool down. They sure don't make it easy. You shoot the deer late it's hit in the liver or stomach and you can't push it. You need to wait and come back tommorow. You fly to NJ? Don't blame the DNR for your predicament. You shoot it late spend some time tracking it but find it late in the evening. It's 80 degrees the next couple days your gone and you cant' get it to the butcher shop before you fly out. You wife won't take it in for you. You have no friends to do it because your wife rules. Don't shoot the deer late, check them in and quit crying. I hunted for eons and checking a deer in has never been a problem. What a bunch of B.S.

When you have to drive 20-50 miles to check in your deer there is a problem. Tele-check is a proven system that Indiana needs to adapt.

No. My point was because of the required check in process I could not go hunting. Read the post and keep your B.S. to yourself.

Tele Check would be a great addition, many other states have employed it and have had zero probs. As far as guys cheating? I hear guys every year that buy a extra archery license and use it on deer outside of urban zones so they can get an extra buck,,tele check won`t make it easier,if guys are going to cheat they will cheat no matter what.

So bullwinkle you throw some insults around, and then offer it's always been done that way; is that what you call substantive reasoning? You owe an apology.

I heard today that the INDNR is looking into the introduction of Telecheck. They will likely start with turkey season and work the bugs out from that. The biggest barrier at this point seems to be the IT people at ACCESS Indiana who do all the computer work for IDNR. Thi is all still very tentative and certainly there are many out there still opposed to the idea but DNR Law Enforcement had no objection and the Fish & Wildlife people talked like it was almost a done deal.

Jack That is good news Jack. Working the bugs out during turkey season sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the update...

What INDNR should do is look at another state that has telecheck and just find out how it is done and just how easy records would be kept on how many kills there were in that year and for each season here in indiana.

They have already talked to the Kentucky folks. The system they are proposing would give CO's in the field access to all the telecheck records.
