I would like to see that "insurance lawsuit" link too.
In all my years of dealing with deer regulations I have never seen anyone from the insurance industry get involved with deer management. What I have seen is the Farm Bureau ask for more deer to be killed, but that is the farmer's side, not the Farm Bureau Insurance.
Insurances make money no matter how many deer/vehicle accidents happen. The do NOT absorb those costs. They just pass it on to all of us.

Have you been on Craigslist lately? The inclusion of crossbows has killed the used bow market already.

Deer collisions are job security for auto insurance companies, claims adjusters, etc.
That would be like saying the Collisions Centers's are suing the DNR for sending too much business their way... Lol
