Would the term "elitist" not be best used to describe persons out of the majority? Or has it been adopted same as the words "99%" and "assault weapon" and is being used by folks who really dont know what it means?

e·lit·ism or é·lit·ism (-ltzm, -l-)
n. 1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
2. a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class. b. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.

An elitist could be a majority but in this case they are far from that. The term fits nicely. They want exclusive seasons, no other group has asked for just that.

I did not ask what the term meant .... asked how it would best be used.
And Tom ... when limiting it to this poll, this thread, this conversation .... they are the majority. We cant say for sure on any other level because neither one of us really knows for sure.

LOl... you do not know of any hunting group that fits that "perceived" notion? And Tom ... when limiting it to this poll, this thread, this conversation .... they are the majority. We cant say for sure on any other level because neither one of us really knows for sure. Looks almost like a push to me. In fact the vertical only is less than 50% is it not?

My bad. I used the wrong word. Majority would be more than half ... what we have here is more respondents picking a particular answer than all others but that still does not equal a majority. So even in this case we have no idea how the majority of hunters feel.
Carry on.
And Woody .... I dont normally call hunters elitists ... or slobs ... or antler worships .... or anything like that. I leave that to other folks who are much more noble than me.

If this trend of answers continues will the results be sent to the state? I thunk I remember in the past being told something along those lines. This question specifically asks if the respondent would support it without the inclusion of xbows and the most popular answer so far is yes. I think it would be safe to assume that "No" is "No" and group those two groups together....that being said I'm sure that the first "Yes"group would NOT want to be grouped together with the last "Yes" group.....agree??? If so then the "No" groups are leading.....

You worded it just fine.
Almost 60% are saying no to a vertical ONLY season.

Lol. And out of all choices given more respondents choose expansion as written over any other choice.
Ever get dizzy? I know I would if I tried to spin things so much.

LOL....Read the thread title again....... It is not about "Expansion Only" is it? Even the question of - "Do you support the proposed new season with xbows excluded?" Now, who is "spinning"?

Certainly not me. 27 folks answered yes to the question. More than any other answer at this time.
I'm not trying to combine answers or anything like that.

You stick a deer in a bean field mid September with a bunch of other eyes around and watch the rest of your season suck, no no no

If some of those guys had their way, there would be about two weekends of gun season pushed way back in December or January...or maybe no gun season at all. Although some of them seem to respect muzzleloaders...so they might throw them a little scrap somewhere. I saw one of them on another site post these words on a thread where someone had harvested a buck with a bow during the gun season. "I respect you taking a buck with a bow during gun season. Anyone can kill one with a gun" (paraphrased) That right there made me so angry I wanted to spit. That kind of pompous attitude turns me off so much. There is a lot of skill involved to be successful in all forms of hunting. In fact, one of the most experienced, skilled, and successful deer hunter/woodsman I know does not hunt with a bow or crossbow at all. He only hunts gun season. The person who made the comment above probably wouldn't respect this guy as a hunter at all, and that is a dirty shame. Truth be told, anyone can kill one with a bow too, if the cards fall right at the right time. Let's not get carried away here. Blah bla blah, that was posted on hh because most hunters can kill a deer with a firearm, a bow that has to be drawn requires more skill, is what it is get over it

Whatever swilk...only 27 out of 67 answered the question to the affirmative.
You do recall the question was - "Do you support the proposed new season with xbows excluded?

Yep. And you do recall that there were 4 possible answers?
Looks like the yes answer is no longer in the lead anyway.
Btw.....I think I answered no. I want the opportunity to kill a velvet buck in Indiana and a start date of the 15th really don't get me there.

It's just that attitude that bothers me. It sells short so many people as hunters. By the way, I do not consider myself a particularly skilled bow hunter, but I have killed a lot of deer with a bow, as well as a coyote and a turkey with my bow. If I can do that, most people can. None of it is rocket science, let's not fool ourselves.

September 15 is not much. I suggested make it the first Saturday in September.
But any September date is not the real prize....

Shall the chosen few reveal their hidden agenda soon, or shall we wait in anticipation of their edict?
