Just the top 5 all time .... or the top 5 entries for each 3 year period?
translation .... if a guy kills a buck that will not crack the top 20 all time but it happens to be the biggest killed during that 3 year period would it have to be panel scored to be recognized?

Top 5 of each species, of the three year period. This deer will be one of those no doubt.

Btw....nobody has to apply to B&C or are they required to have their deer recognized but if they opt to they have to follow the rules. Those rules are spelled out in black and white on their website and are fairly easy to follow for most people.

My understanding is, if the score on this buck holds, it will be recognized as the largest whitetail (typical or non-typical) killed by a hunter...anytime....anywhere......with firearm or bow. That is registered .. Some farmer might have killed a bigger one and using it for a hat rack in his barn. No way a 300+ inch deer is hanging somewhere in anonymity. I'm sure there are lots of book class deer that are, but 300+ are so rare, someone would know about it and word would leak.

This buck hung in a bar for 40 years before it was "discovered" by Dick Idol.. whitetail.com/holehorn.html

In this day and age of Internet rumors and antler worshiping, I don't think we'll ever wait 40 years for such info again.

I was not aware that it was policy to panel score the top 5. Glad WE got that ironed out. The owner of the rack can opt to not have it panel scored, but then it won't be recognized, his choice. Once it accepted in goes in Book with * until they verify the final score at the three year session,if hunter opt out of the session it still remains in book with the accepted original score sheet and * The word is in about 7 days B&C will have a statement on its position/acceptance

Sort of.....note that THE BOOK doesn't come out every year, and they come out after the panel scoring is complete for that period.
After all of that, there is still the question about TWO scores?, and what two official scorers? are competeing for the correct score?......and why B & C needs to see a video of one or both of those scorings? Mystery? before long, you'll see this stuff on reality TV

Congratulations to the hunter......amazing deer.

Beck Buck Comes in as #2 NT Hunter-taken Whitetail. The scoring procedure has been reviewed and after tine classification was verified this deer scores an amazing 305 7/8. Three tines originally scored as normal were deemed abnormal. On this particular head it took away 2/8 in deductions but when the H4 circumference measurements were taken with the correct classification the circumferences dropped a few inches resulting in a lower net score than the original posted 308 5/8. The final tally on this deer is 222 4/8 gross typical frame 93 7/8 in abnormals, and the reason that this buck’s final score ranks it as the largest non typical whitetail taken in the last decade and the second largest in hunter taken in history is that it only has 10 4/8 of deductions left to right.

Looks like B & C is now allowing "shopping" after all. Couldn't help but notice the score sheet doesn't show the original measurements by the "certified" scorer who submitted it. B & C needs to take a look at their training and certifacation process and maybe look at procedures.
