Has anybody got any new and accurate information pertaining to this tragic event. It has to do w/ Tony racing sprint cars for fun, and Metamorhunter asked the question: "If that happened to me I can't really say what Id do, but my guy instinct tells me I'd be done with racing. Not sure how you could ever shake that. Hope he can. Here is a question to compare it too... If you ever (God forbid) accidentally killed someone in a hunting situation, would you hunt again?"

Has anybody got any new and accurate information pertaining to this tragic event. Gibbs says Stewart has strength, courage to return: Joe Gibbs believes #14-Tony Stewart has the strength to return to racing at some point following the Aug. 9 incident which left sprint car driver Kevin Ward Jr. dead. Gibbs, who employed Stewart at Joe Gibbs Racing from 1999-2008, said he has not spoken to Stewart since the incident but thinks the driver will be able to come back and race again. Stewart has missed the past two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races and also has canceled his non-NASCAR racing appearances until further notice. He has not said whether he will drive this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. "From what I saw with Tony, he's got great courage, he's smart, he loves this sport," Gibbs said Tuesday. "He's totally focused on it." Gibbs said he was told by Stewart's representatives the driver is taking some time for himself right now, so he has been hesitant to reach out. But the driver has been in his prayers, Gibbs said. "We all love Tony, we love what he did for us here," he said. "We know he's a racer's racer and he's big for our sport. I would love to have a chance to speak with him at some point and encourage him."(USA Today)(8-20-2014)

UPDATE: Official Statement from Ontario Co. NY District Attorney, "Over the past several weeks I have reviewed with members of the Ontario County Sheriff's Department their investigation, as it progressed, in the Tony Stewart matter. Recently that office concluded its work and forwarded the complete case file to me. Upon my review of all of the information contained in the entire investigation, I have made the determination that it would be appropriate to submit the evidence to a grand jury, for their determination as to what action should be taken in this matter. Accordingly, the evidence developed in the investigation will be presented to an Ontario County grand jury in the near future. As grand jury proceedings in New York State are strictly confidential by law, I am unable to state when the matter will be scheduled, other than to state that I intend to present the matter in the near future. Similarly, because of the confidential nature of these proceedings, I cannot state who will be called as witnesses, or what any witness's expected testimony will be. When the presentation has been completed and a determination has been made, I will advise the public and the media at that time of the results. Actually it may be better that it does go to a grand jury. If the prosecutor doesn't take it to a grand jury there will always be accusations of a cover up. Going to a grand jury will help quash those accusations in the future. Easy to buy off one but not so easy to buy off a grand jury.

According to TMZ, Stewart will not face charges....
NASCAR star Tony Stewart will NOT face criminal charges in the death of Kevin Ward Jr. ... who was struck and killed by Stewart during a race last month ... TMZ Sports has learned.
We've learned ... that a grand jury just decided not to charge Stewart.
On the night of his death, Ward Jr. had gotten out of his car and was aggressively marching toward Stewart's car -- when he was struck.
There was talk that Stewart was angry with Ward Jr. and may have intentionally veered his car into him -- but apparently the grand jury feels it was nothing more than a freak accident.
Investigators had said they had "enhanced video" of the incident -- but clearly the footage did not persuade the grand jury that Stewart did anything illegal.

ESPN posted no charges. Because Ward tested positive for Marijuana.

Wonder how long it will take a civil suit to be filed? I heard a sports talk show host say he doubts there will be one now that the boy who was killed was found with weed in his system.
