The laws and freedoms granted to citizens from the government is rarely passed from employer to employee. Double jeopardy is no different.

I think there is a good chance Goodell will lose HIS job too. A lot of people are calling for it, including a lot of big name sports writers. We shall see. One thing is for sure, it's not over.

No its not. Looks like the head man may have got caught in not one but two lies.
I can see a scenario where Rice is in the league a year from now and Roger is not.

We shall see; as long as the owners stay behind him he is safe. If it starts costing them $$$ then he may be in trouble, but barring that I'm leaning toward he keeps his job. The media can whine all they want but I really think people will continue to tune in to the TV and go to the games, and in the end that is all that matters to them and their sponsors.

What he did was wrong, but he was punished for that. Just because the punishment the NFL handed out caused an uproar from the public when the video was released again and made the NFL look extremely bad does not make the "second chance" punishment right. The NFL made the NFL look way worse than the original act of extreme stupidity ever did.

He (Rice) shouldn't have punched her..period. But apparently both of them were intoxicated, and both of them were physical with the other. IMHO, the police and court system should handle it and if he/she or both of them end up in jail, that's their problem.
As far as the NFL goes....the mainstream media and social media is having a field day with this. And the only thing that is going to satisfy them is Roger Goodell getting canned for not owning up to the apparent fact that the video was available to them months ago.
If it keeps up, the NFL isn't going to put up with the constant bad press and in the end....Goodell is going to be joining Rice...out of the NFL.

Not sure myself; photo evidence would tell the tale. Sounds like he may have went overboard though.

Photos were on the news this morning.
Now does the NFL domestic violence policy cover child abuse, or at least the government's definition of child abuse - in this case child injury. If it does, he may be banned for life.

Hhmm...I'm all for disciplining children the same way my parents did me. Belts. Switches. Fly swatters.
But.....looks like he took it a little to far.
I would think child abuse falls under the domestic violence clause of the new rules....AP might be gone. Bet Roger never saw that one coming.

I guess it would depend on the severity of the "injuries". My dad put a few welts on my legs with a willow switch.. I guess some day we will see pictures of the "injuries"..

The pics are in the TMZ link.... a little more severe then what even most who think like I do would find acceptable. Looks like he might have drawn blood in a few places....
A little known nugget of info....the last case I can find in Indiana case law on parents and corporal punishment is a case of a parent "whipping" their child with an extension cord. Left whelps. Left bruises. Judge found that considering the punishment left no lasting injuries the parent was in the clear.
Just a little something for parents to keep in their back pocket when thinking about punishing their kids.
Also, even though most schools have a policy against it, Indiana law still allows corporal punishment in schools too.

I think most kids who got their butts beat will agree....only took once or twice before you learned to mind mom n dad.
Teachers too...I only got "the paddle" once in school and that was enough for me. In the 80's every elementary school teacher had a wooden paddle hanging in their rooms. Most knew how to use them too....

Lol...our teachers took some kind of twisted pleasure in making and decorating their paddles. One teacher took a knife and notched the handle after each beating.
Mr Martin...5th grade....as I was crawling around attempting to feel my butt after the first hit he leans in and tells me that was the hardest he had hit anyone in 30 years of teaching. Then he told me to stand up because I had another one coming.
I never crossed than man again. We actually became friends in the years that followed.

Growing up I knew that a belt was used for more than just holding up pants. I think that a little more discipline for todays kids would make the world a better place. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating beating the you know what out of them, just enough to let them know that there's more coming if they don't listen to their elders, be it mom & dad or a teacher.
How many here were told "I'll give you something to cry about"?

Lol....that and "wait till your father gets home".
I have 3 well behaved children....because they are good kids but also because they know they'll have to deal with me if they aren't.
