Yep a biz decision that will go down in flames. Where does nfl draw the line? Rape, murder, animal cruelty, drugs, child abuse. I think there are guys in the hall of fame that fit at least one of those, I know there have been one of these cases about once a year for the past 10 years.
Ben Rothlesberger Mike Vick BRETT FAVRE Ray Lewis Marvin Harrison was linked with murder charges towards the end of his career And that is just a list I can speak about, not a huge sports fan but catch a few stories time to time.
Not illegal for nfl or a team to fire someone for damaging their reputation unless there was discrimination. The league better have a clear policy on discipline actions if they pick and choose who and why they take severe action.

For the record, Marvin Harrison was cleared of any wrong doing after a thorough police investigation.

May be the case but where is the damage done to the league? Do they only penalize players based on official court decisions or take action based on suspected actions. Waiting too long and they get criticized.
It will be a long slippery road to define how they past this.

Like what happens with everyday joes and the current state of media coverage, an accusation or even an arrest and the world is ready to hang them on the courthouse lawn. There is no innocent until proven guilty anymore. It's closer to the Salem which trials where the accusation is considered gospel and one must confess or prove their innocence.

If video of Peterson whipping his son surfaces, he will be in big trouble.
