Let me get this straight... Ray Rice knocks his fiancé out on an elevator. Gets a paltry 2 game suspension from the league and no further punishment from his team. People were up in arms (rightfully so) about the light penalty. Now, a video surfaces, verifying EXACTLY WHAT WE ALREADY KNEW HAD HAPPENED, and suddenly Rice is cut by the Ravens and banned by the league. What's the message here? Beating up a woman is kind of bad but doing it on camera is unacceptable? What a total debacle! Roger Goodell needs to step down NOW! Same goes for Harbaugh or whoever handled the decisions on the Ravens' end. An absolute embarrassment all the way around!

Kind of unbelievable that she married him after the fact.
I wonder if he will appeal the ban....with all punishments being negotiated between the league, owners and players union I wonder if they are in the clear with the ban.

She had stated that she was partly to fault.. Sure, he will appeal and down the road play again...

Met - no doubt but I *think $20M of his contract was guaranteed and depending on the terms of the contract itself and whatever is in the NFL bylaws negotiated for he might still get all or part of it.

From a quick search it looks like all of his guaranteed money has already been paid.
Between $15-20M best I can tell.

Just another over paid misfit. There's NO PLACE anywhere for that. Specially where your in a position to be looked up to by young kids. GOOD FOR THE NFL.

Check out what Keith Olbermann had to say. He is calling for everyone's jobs. I, personally think Goodell has done a great job up until this case. He has been making players and owners accountable for their actions. m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=Fh1x1-Z91sU

The guy is a dirt bag...any guy that hits a woman or kid is a dirt bag and he got what he deserved except a butt kicking by the woman's family/friends.
Put him in jail similar to anyone else found guilty of the same crime, be it 2 days, 2 years or 2 lifetimes, just be consistent. Let his employer do what they need to do. Business is business...if it is in their code of conduct then penalize it accordingly. I am sure this isn't the first nfl guy to get in trouble over domestic battery and probably won't be the last. Most of those guys are ego inflated pre-Madonnas that believe they can get away with anything because they have for most of their lives.

Didn't know what happened in that elevator, till now. 2 game suspension was a joke. He got what should have got in the first place, fired. Special place in hell for guys like that. Hope he is banned for life and looses all the pension from nfl. Thug thinking he is above all others.

He cold-cocked her and dragged her unconscious body out into the hall. That was widely reported and not even disputed. The video provided no new info... Only shock value.

Ok, didn't know everyone knew he punched her in face and her head smacked off the side of the elevator.
While Rice declined twice to give details about what happened in the Atlantic City, New Jersey, elevator, he said it was a "one-time incident" and expressed his intentions to become an "ambassador" against domestic violence.

Remember the Ray Lewis murder Debacle? Guess they needed at TAPE then also!!! ha yes the killer gets to play and lets crucify a guy that made a mistake. Maybe he/she should get a chance to reconcile and pay the debt to society and keep their lives private. Really it happens every day how is this so different

The thing is this kind of thing happens all the time. I had a Brown Co. deputy tell me one time: "you wouldn't believe the domestic calls I've gone on; they are people you know"

I don't think he will ever play in the NFL again. Why would a team want to take on all the headache and bad publicity for what they would get out of him. He wasn't very good last year and he is 28 I think. Very few RB's produce after they hit 30.

Vick still had enough talent to make it worth the hassle. Rice won't have by the time he is able to rejoin the league. If that ever happens.

Well....maybe. But if I were him, I'd try to stay in shape and be a good hubby. The league suspension was "indefinite", not necessarily permanent. If he can make a good case for being repentant and reformed, and some team has a major running back go down with a season-ending injury just when they are smacking their lips at the playoff prospects......be good to be eligible and healthy.
He has already hired a PR firm to make his case, and the bride is being helpful. I think he sees his chances as being better than zero. He did drag her all the way out of the elevator, not just halfway.
