This morning I am thankful for my Thermacell. Quiet so far, but at least the musquitos are leaving me alone.

Slipped in tight to a roost area about an hour before daylight. When a couple of birds flew down I let out 6-8 clucks and got a response. Another bird is on the ground and has cut the distance in half. Hopefully it's a race to a load of TSS.

I got stuck on the edge of a field trying to make a move. Gobbler poked his head out behind some honeysuckle and walked back into the woods just out of sight. Then proceeded to gobble for 30 minutes.

No noise here. Saw three jakes at 200 yards. Not interested in my decoys or my calling

I'm resting up today, and will make a monumental effort tomorrow. A few members of Beard Busters are weighing out team down. Jim, climb up the tree and pull him down by his beard if you have to. LOL

Jon, We have decided to move our Hail Mary hunt to Clark county. Private land, big lake and an apple orchard. Nearby landowner is reporting flocks of 30+ birds. No hunting pressure. I'd climb a tree and strangle one if I could only see one!! Darn it. Could of had three jakes today with my .204. Whoops, not legal. Umm, never mind. Just a random thought. Good luck tomorrow and stay within your safe boundaries.

Good luck tomorrow and stay within your safe boundaries. Yes Sir, I over did it a bit on Wed, and man did I sleep. My daughter kept me out a long time Wednesday, but we had a blast! She was a real sport. It will be a memorable event even though we didn't see one. We went into Nashville for lunch and ice cream; I think she'll go with me again. I had a great opportunity to hunt today, but just couldn't do it. Oh to be young again, or just healthy! LOL I'm actually blessed just to do the things that I can. Hey, that spot in Clark county sounds like a great deer spot too. Do turkey eat apples? How in the world did you land on this opportunity??? I met a man on the retreat who has turkey and doesn't hunt. Oh, I tried to work him in the most pleasant way that I could, but he just won't let anyone hunt them. If I had another few days to wooo him, I think I'd been he'd be hunting with me. He just doesn't know how much fun they are to eat! Tomorrow will be my last shot with Mother's Day this weekend. I plan to go early, and check all the spots me and my daughter found for roosting birds. If I don't see any, I'll just plant down on a ridge and wait all day. Good luck in Clark County! I know you have been putting in the effort to get one, and I'd sure like to see it pay off for you.

Good deal! Story and pics please !!! Well here is the story. I will have my son post pictures when he gets home. Dear old Dad isn't smart enough to do so. Lol When I came home from work. I decided to go for a drive to scout fields. I work 4 10s have tomorrow off. So for some reason I thought I should take my stuff. Ya never know. So on the way to where I hunt. I see 2 hens in a field. Then down the road 2 Tom's by there self. Said to myself wish I could hunt that in morning. Then when I go past my field there's another 2 Tom's in it. By there selves. So I park down the road. Walk up a drainage ditch that has trees on both sides for about a half mile. Now I can cut over to woods behind the trees in ditch. This should put me Between Birds and Where they roost. I make one soft call. And it must have been something about the hens momma that I didn't see behind me in back of field. She goes off. Making high pitched yelps and cutts. Well I'm in the cat birds seat now. I'm set up just off the edge of field between 2 Tom's and a angry hen. Both Tom's close distance of a 150 yards or so fast. When the more dominant bird came past a window of a opening I had at 30 yards. I sent a 3 1/2 inch load of Kent #5s. Bang. Flop. 20lbs. 31mm spurs. Double beard. 11 3/4 thick paint brush. And a 6 1/2 in pencil beard about 2 inches above main beard.

Jon, The land is owned by a friend of Darrin. No one lives there. We walked it a few weeks back and he hunted it once. He called in two toms but got busted. Heck, I'd make them apple pie if they would come within range. Yes they do eat apples. Go here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9Jfoz1vxSc
