Hey! They posted the weekend schedule and I'm off! Is there room for one more old fat guy? I think so.

Hickory hills would have been my suggestion as well, but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays an will be closing for the season soon I'm sure. The check in is at the dnr building which is nearly straight across from the main military entrance on hospital road. The dnr building is on the north side of the road just west of the stop light at the main gate. I talked to someone who works there and he said the rabbits get hunted pretty hard and there isn't any area better than another. Said there are guys that run their dogs everyday in the training areas and then move all over once season opens. I haven't seen a rabbit from the road there in quite some time. I figured that about the rabbits. Just have a drive when we get there for a look see. I'm thinking down by the river might not get hunted too bad. That area is definitely hit a lot less by the rabbit hunters, at least with my observations driving around. Most tend to stick to the big open fields and run the edges of them. There are days you can drive through there and there are trucks parked everywhere. If you don't get up to your limit of 6 I may show up, but I'm not a definite, so no big deal if you reach your limit. Like I said before, it's literally a two minute drive for me to get there.

Show up. I'll make it work as long as everyone is extra careful. I know I probably came off as a bit of a you know what when I posted my "rules" post. I just want it to be safe for everyone involved including my dogs. Just have had some bad things happen in the past that I don't want repeated. If everyone is extra safe we can fit extra.

Key is to hunt the areas others pass over. Sometimes the areas that look the worse will be the best. Might have to adjust a time or two but we'll at least get some running in...hopefully I'm thinking that I'll go where you do, stand where you tell me to and shoot when you say, "when." And I'll be standing right next to you Dennis!

I'm pretty sure if we can get some bunnies up you all are going to have the time of your life. I'd wager a pretty big bet none better miss. Just don't think it'll go over to well once the stories get told. Anyone that hasn't hunted bunnies behind dogs has no idea of accepted excuses for misses so you'll be behind the 8-ball.

You have to come up with a way better one than that to miss a little hippoty hoppity bunny.

How's that for a start?

I haven't been rabbit hunting since I was about 16 or 17. Me and a buddy went in a cow pasture behind my parents' house and we jumped one rabbit. It was a 12 o'clock and ran in straight line away from us. We both shot at it, and it bounced twice. I told him he could have it. He said it was ... crunchy ... as he failed to get all of the shot out of it when he cooked it up. So as of right now, I'm shooting 100% at the fuzzy bunnies, but I expect that to change quickly.

Looks like I'm Louisville bound Sunday. Does that work for you? When do you think would work time wise?

Yeah it would have to be after I'm done with these guys. If it comes to it you could drop them off at atterbury. I could take them from there. I reckon we'll hunt till I wear them out. The hunters, not the dogs. The box will hold 8+ dogs. I can keep all mine on one side and yours on the other if it comes to that.
