It WAS GREAT MEETING EVERYONE , It didn't matter if it was a 3-4 hour drive one way . I got to meet a bunch of great guys Today . I made it home by 430 my time . I can't wait until we hunt again . I have only been a site member about 2 weeks but I followed this thread and sounds like you guys had a great time,I would be interested in meeting some of you folks in the future.

It was a great time even if we didn't get a chance at the rabbits. I know that place gets ran hard all year long and knew it would be tough to get rabbits up and on the run, but those dogs gave it all they had, but there wasn't a rabbit to be found. Great group of guys spending time out in the field. That's what it's all about. Thanks again Shane for coming up with your dogs. Would love to come down your way some day to actually see them work some rabbits. Eli has now decided it was just a group of old crazy guys walking around with guns acting like we were hunting. Although he is still talking about is and I know it's something he won't soon forget. Plus he came home with two pocketfuls of empty casings to add to his collection.

I only saw 1 bunny all day, and it was flat and on the side of the road.
It was good meeting most of you guys for the first time, and a couple of you for a second time. Thanks for coming up Shane.
Before Eli knows it, he'll be one of the crazy old guys traipsing around outside with a gun, acting like he's hunting. Let us know if he makes Christmas lights out of the shells.

I had a wonderful time!
This wouldn't have happen if span hadn't made the offer and I really appreciated it. We all did.
Yes, it was wonderful meeting everyone. We have an amazing group of guys here. I'd like to meet more of you.
I have a bit of short-term memory loss, so I learn new stuff often. Today, I learned that meerkats live in zoos here and they don't look like prairie dogs.
I still don't know what a rabbit looks like.

span870 I think this no rabbits thing happened because you were making fun of these guys and their shooting ability. "It's over hunted" "There is frost" "The dogs thought they were supposed to be running a mink"

Hey, one of his dogs kept trying to load up and go home with me. I'm not sure if that's was a good thing or if I just smelled that bad.

I also learned that blue tick in not a new dog disease. I didn't pet that one; my weak heart can't fight off any new diseases.
I also was thinking that bud was proud of the hair on his dog's tail, but now I know it's his dogs on the hare's trail.
I have learned so much from you guys.

Glad you guys had fun. Still feel bad you didn't get to at least hear them run one good. I know you guys made a long drive but they just couldn't get one up. Offer still stands if anyone wants to make a little longer drive. I guarantee you I can put you on them down here. That or we can meet on the west side of the state and I know we can get into them over there.

"It's over hunted" "There is frost" "The dogs thought they were supposed to be running a mink" Believe me. It happened because there are NO rabbits there. Heck I even got into the briars trying to say least get one up. Nothing. No sign. Zero. Heck I seen more pheasant today than rabbits. All the best areas seemed to be dog running only, no hunting. I tried to get lawrencecountyhunter to ground swat that one but he wouldn't do it. Something about it being in the middle of the road. Blah, blah, blah

We entertained ourselves, and really enjoyed watching those boys work. Thanks!

He kept calling them into the front seat. Wouldn't let those poor dogs alone. Well he did once rusty let loose with a nose burning fart.

Reading this brings back great memories....I was about 16 years old when my dad brought home a very pregnant beagle dog. About 10 seconds after we got her a decent pen and house built she gave us 6 pups.....I had never really rabbit hunted before that but we sure had a good time training and running those dogs.
We ended up with 3 specialists from the litter. One male could find any rabbit that happened to be in the county. Another male could climb any fence he came across and we had one female who firmly believed she was part retriever.
I grew up watching The Dukes of Hazzard and those 3 dogs were named Boss, Bo and Daisy.
Boss was the fence climber and my favorite so he always got to ride in the cab instead of the box.....dog always managed to bloody the end of his tail when we would hunt him.
Great memories.....nothing better than watching good dogs do what good dogs do.
