Mossberg makes one for the 870 with iron sights. I'm not a big fan of cantilever barrels. yeah mine is left handed so I'd be just as suited to buy another gun for that $ Hey, educate me on why the barrel is different for left handers? It's just the barrel, isn't it? Do you want it to rifle the other way? Are they rifled the other direction in Australia? LOL

Hey guys, I have really enjoyed seeing what is next on your list. It gives me ideas ...not that I really need anything else to think about.

There is like 1/3 pipe past the chamber that marries up inside the receiver. Since right and left handed guns eject opposite ways, that piece must also be opposite. Make sense, or did I make it worse?

That Nathan is just difficult.

I just change the safety.

Either a Remington 750 woodsmaster in 30-06 or a Ruger mini14 in .223.... Probably the Remington.... Decisions decisions.

I hope the 750 has had some changes done to it to make it more reliable than the late production 742's. Those are nicknamed jamb-a-matics up North. My 742 purchased in 1975 is OK, but the later ones had problems.

I also like the Rugers, but they discontinued the 10/22s in .22 mag. The used ones on gun broker are going for more than the new Magnum Research rifles (which are very similar). went to a gun auction last week end and one sold for $1100.

After finding out my son could shoot my Savage ML-II, I wanted to get one for him. After looking at the price of what few are out there I think I'm going to have to pass. They have really shot up in price....no doubt. A blued plastic stock model goes for more than I paid for my SS / laminate model. Two years ago i went to a gun auction and got a SS thumbhole 10ML-II for $400 LNIB. So I got to give my son my camo 10ML-II which I paid $600 for new. Now they go for crazy prices if you can find them.

Next on my list is 40' of angle iron and some lumber. I should take care of the iron tomorrow. Got a project in the works. Next summer I would like to get a 22 semi auto handgun for raccoon disposal and a 44 mag. rifle for the wife and kids to hunt with. Any body have a suggestion for a low cost 22? I would like it to have a longer barrel. Beretta Neos are pretty good. I got one. Fun to shoot.

I'd do $800. The ones I saw had scopes on them. Synthetic/stainless. $1499-1999. I paid $450. I have 3. One ML-I that wears a laminate stock with a Rifle Basix trigger, .50 cal One ML-I that is still unfired in the box. I sold it 2 years ago to a guy that just had to have it, a year later I bought it back when he got into a money pinch. Somehow he lost the breechplug. It is at Savage getting a replacement. I guess he took everything out of the box and had it scattered around the house. One Stainless ML-II that I purchased from a guy on Dougs, and RB in AR/Rick Bibby (who passed away a few years ago) did a 3rd pillar bedding job on it and filled the mag well with weight and epoxy. It is in the factory camo Tupperware stock. I converted it with a Pac-Nor .45 cal. barrel. E-bay has new breech plugs. www.ebay.com/itm/Savage-10ML-II-Breech-Plug-Factory-New-Breechplug-/281885068812?hash=item41a1a8ce0c:g:z5IAAOxyi-ZTb3T2

For most of the hunting I do I prefer the youth sized guns. My 20ga. turkey gun and my two rabbit guns, one in 20 and one in .410, are both youth. I like the shorter, fast handling guns. Wouldn't recommend one for bird shooting but for quick handling in the brush they are hard to beat. Now for my next guns, I'm still on the search for a 28 or .410 for rabbits. I traded a guy on a whim a 12ga Mossberg that I won at a nwtf banquet that had been sitting in the safe unshot for 7 years for a .410 Mossberg. I've carried it once and ready to get rid of it. They are the most mis sized gun I've ever carried. Seems like it's a 12ga stock on a .410. And heavy. Yes I hate it already. Maybe I'll mess with it, change the stock and forearm to synthetic. Man they are ugly. Anyway to answer your question. I'm going with the 1100 sportsman in 28ga and it'll be a SxS .410. Probably do a nationwide hunt for a Yildiz in the .410. Only ever found one and fell in love with it. After those two, can't imagine anything else I'd want. Almost the point of too many now. Although there isn't a 16ga in the safe yet. First gun I ever owned was a 16ga. Ithaca featherlight. Reckon there is room for one of those too. After that, that's about it. Well I'd really like I really nice wood stocked .22. And a .22 pistol to mess around with behind the dogs. A nice red dot sight on it might just be the ticket for bunnies sneaking in front of the dogs. After that I'm done. Just no more room. Both the safes will be at capacity. Although I did see rural king has safes on sale for Christmas..... LOL, this is funny. How many guns does a man need? ...at least one more. Well How many shoes does a women need? They only have two feet but a closet full of shoes!

Going to pick up a compound bow this spring. I was hoping to take my longbow out for archery season next year, but I've accepted that I'll never get enough range time to be good enough hunting to hunt with it. Given how hard it is for me to get out there, I just can't pass up the long archery season.
Also want the Ruger 77/44 for firearms season.

REPLACE THE RECOIL PAD WITH SOMETHING ELSE. The one it comes with sucks.
