I think I'll be able to get my Winchester 101 O/U field gun out of layaway this month.
What is next on your list?

Closing on our new property sometime in the next two weeks, so we can start clean up and get house plans started.

In the final stages of buying a little chunk of ground next to my hunting ground....then figuring out how to best build a cabin high enough the river won't get it.
That'll likely be a few years in the planning to completion timeframe.

Toys boys, this is what I'm talking about.
As much as you work firstwd I know you can get a few toys too.
I have medical bills, college bills, need a frig, but I'm talking about the essentials in life.
I'm hoping to squeeze out a new crossbow before next season, and really need a better 20ga. My squirrel tally left much to be desired. I'm confident that a new 20ga pump would help. At least this is what I tell myself.

Yes, they are made for youth and women, but they are a dream to carry and handle very well.

They are fantastic. I might just do it. I know Remington is a fine gun, and I need a light one. Some of those old pump guns are HEAVY, but I like the way they look. I'll probably end up with a Browning. I'm kind of fond of them. I've actually been looking at a Winchester 12ga slug gun. It's a pump and has a nice look to it. I'm slow with my followup shot using my Savage 220. It's a fine gun; I'm just slow at advancing the bolt. I'd like a semiauto, but it can get expensive buying a barrel for one.

I'm thinking that I might rather have a lever action. Is the 77/44 bolt action?

My next gun will be an Encore pistol in 30.06. I can't imagine shooting a pistol like this. Is this what Dave has as his avatar? I shot that in an Encore for a couple years. It did real good. I suggest a Nos BT or Hdy SST bullet. We all started with factory Rem CL and Win PP. They penciled thru on shots of distance over 100yd. When we went to factory Nos BT and then handloads, it became a new beast. Lost velocity in short barrel made standard bullets a little hard. I recomend getting away from long action cartridges 25-05, 270, 280, 30-06, and going with the 308 family, 243, 260, 7-08, etc. Less powder, more efficient, short barrel length to burn powder. JMO.

I'd like a Magnum Research semi-auto .22 WMR, but likely won't be getting one anytime soon. I start sending money out west for tag apps/points next month.
