I think there should be a season for the naked pointy stick hunters.

If any is shortened don't make it the best time of year to properly take care of a deer ,,Get rid of some of the days that it is too hot to hunt any way Not Normally good hanging weather time

Here in Kentucky Deer season (Archery) opens the first Saturday in September, which is too early and normally too warm. Lots of Deer are lost and found the next day spoiled. The archery season on Deer should be delayed until the second Saturday in October, then at that time the weather is cooler and Deer move more. Firearm season sometimes starts a bit too early too.

Dear god I could fill a book with the whining I have heard over how the waterfowl seasons are structured and it's not like they charge the dates around that much.

I am not so sure. I think if they lessoned the regular firearm season, your statement is probably very accurate in some cases. However, if one were to shorten or change any season I honestly think it is the Muzzleloader season. This season was not originally designed for the muzzleloaders hitting the woods today. Many hunters (myself included despite not gun hunting hardly ever) choose to carry a muzzleloader over anything else. Ballistically they are awesome, accuracy is great if kept clean and that is without entering in the smokeless powder ones. It wouldn't make a huge difference but I'd love to see the muzzleloader season be a primitive firearm season...cap and ball, percussion cap type muzzleloaders (no more in lines and such). Not saying this is something worth pushing but if someone said make a change to the season lengths or make ups of them and this is one I think would be the most logical to me. I don't think bow season was meant for compound bows that weigh next to nothing have 80 percent let offs and have fiber optic sights. Should be primitive as possible. long bow only and shorten the season. Logical to me. Lol please don't judge others for their weapon of choice or try to limit what they can or can't use. If it's legal use it. Who is judging???!!! Come on seriously, that is a rather strong word to associate with what I said. I gave an answer to a hypothetical scenario where a season change had to happen, and in my personal opinion that is the most logical...me I'm fine with the length of the seasons now, sure personal motivation would say move the firearm season back a week or two (but notice I didn't mention that as I know that is a bias answer). I love my inline Muzzleloader, and the few times I do firearm hunt I love picking that thing up so trust me no judgement here at all. As to the primitive bow vs modern compound bow as a basis for the season structure, I don't honestly disagree really. I've always wanted to take up long or recurve bow hunting and that'd give me a nudge I think. I love hunting early season far far too much before the noise of firearm season to stop simply because I no longer can use my "modern" compound. If presented with the question of whether I'd support or not support this change, I'd probably say No, however if it occurred I'd be first in line for a new long bow or recurve!
