Btw, THANK YOU to everyone that called, emailed or somehow complained. This never would have got fixed if not for all the attention it received ^^^^ THIS It was the old squeaky wheel that finally got to them.... I'm still not sure it is 100% legal, but Ill bet that the governor blessed it... I can't believe that an emergency order signed by an agency director trumps the legislature. I am happy for those the law affected but I doubt this is legal. Hopefully no one challenges the emergency order which expires before next season.

I'm glad it is fixed and all the joy. A lot of lessons learned. Who's on first and what on second. Now each is on the same page. yeh

So is this order basically saying that the DNR is not going to enforce the law as written? Seems like there were several folks on this forum saying that would never happen

What exactly does the law that allows the DNR Director the authority of the emergency order say? It may have been possible the entire time, but DNR wanted proof positive of the Legislators intent before using it so the didn't risk the legislature taking that tool away.

I understand even the state's lawyers couldn't agree on whether there was a DNR temporary fix on this or not. I think the DNR just went for it and let the chips fall where they may. I'm sure the governor and the head honchos at the legislature are in agreement with this. The DNR director did not go at this alone.

Not that it makes any difference but just out of curiosity who was it that that started this whole fiasco by bringing it to attention in the first place?

Big Oaks NWF had a safety meeting where it was brought up..... that was really the first big attention getter. The local CO on this forum has been saying it right after it passed in legislation.... search there your see it.
