So far we cant buy a skurry. Lots of other hunters in the field. We moved to a way off zone, and walked back in a ways. This is our 2nd to last move.

I saw 3 today in the woods. But clay birds were on the menu and not squirrels.

One more for team 4. I took my shotgun and my .22 to the farm today. Walked field edges and went two for two on rabbits. Had lunch, switched weapons, and got a squirrel. Slow going for the squirrel activity today. This will make for a good small game dinner tomorrow.

If standard, how does it pattern? Are the sights right on? I had Bullseye69 on here thread my slug barrel and I use it for turkeys with an Indian Creek choke tube. Different shells shoot to very different poa. I remember not being able to shoot the iron sights on one shell. Anyway, incredibly handy with that short barrel. Makes it a completely different gun from a standard length and great to carry.

Different shells shoot to very different poa. I remember not being able to shoot the iron sights on one shell. Anyway, incredibly handy with that short barrel. Makes it a completely different gun from a standard length and great to carry. It is just a standard improved cylinder slug barrel. It shoots a nice even pattern with the one ounce loads of #6 shot that I use on rabbits. As for the sights, I actually have removed the rear sight from the rear sight ramp. This allows a much more unobstructed view of the front post which I just use more or less like a bead. But, it shoots right on to the point of aim. I have looked at buying a 21" vent rib barrel but they are nearly the cost of an entire gun. When I first got into rabbit hunting I tried using my 28" vent rib barrel on this gun. Most of the places I would find rabbits were so thick that it was a real handicap trying to maneuver around with that so one day I tried the slug barrel and it's been a game changer.

Looks like a decent blanket of snow hit. Gonna head out and see what the conditions look like before committing on hunting today.

Looks like a decent blanket of snow hit. Gonna head out and see what the conditions look like before committing on hunting today. Got about 1.5" here. Roads are clear, everything else is covered in snow. A buddy has a 25 acre parcel in North Liberty and he said he's over0run with squirrels. I might take a trip there this weekend since I won't be going to Colorado.

Roads were good at home. We came down to Winimac, and they got 2-3 times as much snow, like 4-5" in spots. Got here and snowing like mad. So we went and got breakfast to kill time. Drove around a bunch, and haven't seen any skurries, deer, turkeys, or even any tracks. Wind is picking up and blowing the snow off the trees. We are on our 3rd and last sit, and nothing but a couple birds. A real bummer this weekend for any game!

Driving between Plymouth and Grovertown, I saw a flock of probably 100 turkeys out in the field at the edge of the woods.

Drive back home was uneventful, as well as trip to SB and back. Just not our weekend. Looks like weather will keep us out next weekend.

Three more for team #3. After a long deer season was happy to turn my attention back to the bushytails.

Please add a female fox squirrel for Team 3. Went out for a few hours around lunchtime and walked right into a bunch of them in the thick stuff on the ground. Five or more. Mostly grays. Eventually one that got way too close saw me and they got a little nervous and backed off. The fox squirrel was the only one who gave me a shot and I missed. Walked over to her tree and shot again and missed at very close range. Gun needs work. Went and sat down and a few minutes later a grey came through but then went back. Got up and looked around a bit and saw the fox squirrel move on a fallen tree 30 yards away and went towards her. She saw me coming but kept going back and forth on the tree. I got closer but missed again and she went back into the very thick brush, but I was able to see her and follow. Yes it required some bushwacking. She went back up the tree where I'd first shot at her and a game of hide-and-seek was played for the next 15 minutes or so. I'd see her and start trying to get an angle and she'd move. Even was right above my head a few times. She started ignoring me and doing her own thing except when I would take a shot and miss. Then she'd move again. Finally she started heading away but I followed her and she couldn't shake me. Took another shot and missed and she headed for the branches above me and sat there crouched looking down at her. Shot again and she finally dropped. I backed off and waited to see if that shot was going to be the one that did the job. But she managed to rally and scooted towards me as she tried to escape so I ended up having to put another one through her. Went and sat back down but all the shots had scared the others into hiding for a good long while. Will post pics later.

Sounds like a box at 20 yds with a target stapled to it and the rifle on a solid rest is in order. Good job on the perseverance! At that rate you'll be out of ammo before season ends! LOL
