Clifty has this program going on, including the flag a third flag on the poles. I remarked that I appreciated the sentiment but to me it seemed A: poorly named and B: a solution in search of a problem. After five seasons at the gate I can tell you that every Race, Creed & color under the sun utilizes our fine park system.

A toasty 3 degrees in madison on Jan. 14. The truck gave me a scare. Went out to warm it up for Church and though it started, initially the little electronic window that displays the odometer and gear selector was dark. After the truck warmed for a few minutes it was lit again. *sigh*

The Following never happened. There was recently a meeting at a totally hypothetical workplace that began with the assistant manager coming up to the employee with a grave expression and saying, "I'm going to have Bob take over for you after lunch. You have to go to the conference room and meet with a couple of HR people from Indianapolis. Oh, don't worry, you aren't in any trouble." The employee walked into the room where a too-friendly guy with a notepad and a woman typing on a laptop were already seated. First question: "Does management ever make any comments about race or gender?" Other questions: Is there any problem with bad language? Do YOU use bad language? How do you feel about your managers? How do you feel about co-worker A? B? C? Specifics? DO you feel there are any problems here? ( all the while the woman typed away on her laptop } Our hypothetical employee used his experience with such corporate types to plant all the right seeds. The hypothetical employee in our story was later informed that the company received a good rating. Are these ( totally hypothetical ) meetings a thing now? YIKES.

This kind of thing is always scary. The loss of familiar conditions and valued co-workers and friends is a very uncomfortable thing. I trust that your skills and experience will have you landing on your feet in the end! Best wishes for you and your co-workers.

Sometimes the park residents don't get on well.

I never worried about many of the traditional fears of being "full of years" like Baldness or failing eyesight ( and a good thing, too ) However, the idea of diminishing faculties does give me pause. While I haven't reached the Joe Biden stage just yet, there can be no doubt that the old elevator doesn't reach the top floor as fast as it used to. By way of example, one thing I did on the slow days back when I still manned the gatehouse at Clifty was take the time to learn the ancient language of Anglo-Saxon. Not as hard as it may sound, as it is written left to right just like English and some of letters more or less directly translate. In a week or two of scribbling I could read and write it fairly well. Then I put it aside for a bit before once again pulling out the notebook. To my distress I found that I had forgotten a few of the letters. I know, you have to practice and all that, but what struck me is that a few years ago this would not have happened. Once I memorized something like that it was a done deal. ( at least for a few weeks, lol) I have also noticed that I can't remember where I put things anymore. A fairly common thing, I suppose, but still unsettling. I am curious, for those of you in the middle years and beyond-- what scares you the most, if anything?

I just thought it was a funny picture - first the lefties scraping away, now the righties. People tickle me...🤣🤣 I get what you're saying, greyhair. It is funny. A tactic that seemed pretty bulletproof a year ago is suddenly not. Ah, the road of life, and it's many sudden turns. *** DICLAIMER *** My seeing this phenomenon as humorous should in no way be construed as an endorsement of the Meat Puppet that currently occupies the White House, or his lefto/commie policies.

I remember an article in NAW years ago featuring really obsessive shed hunters and a couple of them claimed they often found the biggest sheds in December. The biggest buck on cam from last year still was carrying it's headgear in March. A man who's word I trust as much as my own eyes ( hell, more...I cant see S*** anymore ) saw a decent buck still wearing both antlers at the tail end of March once.

I'm the same, but never hesitate to ask! Paul told us "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
May the Lord strengthen the minds & steady the hands of any and all medical staff, and comfort both you your wife as you confront what lay ahead.

You're right about the roads being a reliable indicator of deer movement! Every year you can see see things are heating up for both hunters and insurance adjusters.
