Had a nice one show up last night. It was super dead behind the house this year. Never seen fewer bucks on camera in past 8 yrs or so. So here is to next season.

Good start! Should be really nice next year! Likely won't see him while hunting, but my camera is always at the ready.

My place was super dead this year as well. That why I had to go back to my old trusty public land place I haven’t hunted in for about 12 years just to kill a deer.

I’m probably all done hunting for the year. Told the kids they could walk their dogs or metal-detect or whatever on the property now.
I’ve got plenty of work that needs done, my primary task will be expanding the food plot area again this year.

lol. You too? How much land do you have? I only have 2.5 acres and I saw 2 deer on it this past March April. Wondering if they’ll come back.

I'm gonna try to get back home in April to do some work, want to get in a good spring plot if I can. Want to spend two weeks there if possible. Then will try to get back in sometime in the fall to do the plots again. Hoping this year will be better than what just passed. Need to have something to keep them staying around this year. With Pop passing last year, wasn't able to get in any plots. Here's to this year though....Looking forward to seeing what all you all do as well. SF Woody

A couple of potential survivors at my lease. Both pics were taken late Nov/early Dec. The one with the little crab claw was hanging out on it all summer. Now I need to decide if I want to renew it or not.

There was a little work done this year to the piece I hunt. for next year I am going to put up a ladder stand in a spot that can cover the CRP that I heard tons of deer in and the monster disappeared into this year. I will also make sure and cut some better shooting lanes for archery. The only bad part about it is that I will be doing this right before I start hunting, but I don't really have a choice. Since nobody shot the monster I saw (one buddy wiffed on it during firearms after I left), I am hoping to see him next year.

I’ve got 2 stands I want to move around and hopefully I can do a real foodplot this year. My plot this year was a joke at best. (Course I think the drought didn’t help) Got some trees that came down during and just before this years deer season that I need to remove and want to clear a spot near my front pond that has grown ridiculously.

Yea I always put out some corn after season to get a good inventory of what bucks are left. Went out in the sub zero this morning and spread some out.

My friend in Ohio yesterday asked me if I was hunting today. Still open in Ohio. I told him I was afraid the deer would freeze to the ground before I could get there to drag it out. Half kidding.

With only a couple inches of snow on the foodplots, the deer are hammering my turnip patch. I'm going to try planting 4 acres of field corn for next year, planting 3 acres of pasture into turnips. This will be my first winter not having to feed and water a few beef calves, dont plan to get anymore in the spring so I may as well make use of the pasture.
