I made lamb chops for the first time ever.
I purchased 2-2" thick lamb chops French cut from a farmers market farmer who raises and butchers her own lambs.
I Marinated them over night with fresh Rosemary and Garlic with a little bit of Olive oil salt and pepper.
I seared them on all sides in melted butter in a cast iron skillet for about 90 seconds a side then I transferred the skillet to a 350 degree oven till the chops reached 140 degrees, I rested them for about 15 mins.
The wife made up a batch of the HONEY mushrooms I found the other day and we had that with eggs in the basket and a baked potato.

Today I planted my first ever fall food plot. I worked the soil and planted. What do you guys think? It was easier than I thought it would be.

Red Roof Inn Is at bottom of my list for Hotels IMO Cheapest isn’t always best…… RED ROOF will do in a pinch when on a fishing trip with the guys, when on vacation with the wife... "STAY AT THE NICER PLACES".

Doing it your way with your wife as your partner doesn't get any better.
Just the experience makes this trip a total success.

Nice find. Any particular tree they are associated with? They can and are found just about anywhere, they are everywhere there is decaying wood in the ground or above the ground. They can be found around any tree that is under stress.

With mushroom hunting it's all about timing and up here in the Northern part of the state we just got a nice 2 day rain and with todays warming it's game on for Honeys.
I found about 2 pounds in the woods in front of my house they are so perfect for picking that some of them didn't even have the vail open up yet.
If your Polish you call these mushrooms PAPINKYS.

Finally got the hot tip we've been waiting for, so I took off work. Luke and I will be giving it our all to hook up with a Lake Michigan salmon. Wish us luck! Keep us posted.

Thank You treetop for the kind comment. Before I married my wife I hunted for the numbers and in doing so failed to enjoy the out of doors or the dinners that followed. My wife as I have said before is an outstanding chef and baker because she cooks the old world way with a great taste for spices and herbs. I took it upon myself to challenge her and together we have dreamed up so really unbelievable meals and desserts. We enjoy TV shows like Andrew Zimmern's BIZZARE FOODS, or MEATEATER they cook up things you would never think of trying. Right now guys are killing dumb early season geese by the truck loads and the shame of it is they for the most part are only taking the breasts and throwing the rest away. The legs on a goose are the best part of the bird and I am serious when I say this. I also enjoy the hearts, livers and gizzards. When I bring home something from fishing or hunting I am challenging myself to come up with a superb dinner with what I just harvested. I try to perfect every step from field dressing to butchering to storing.
Last week drfleck posted a photo of himself holding two nice fat squirrels and a perfect HEN OF THE WOODS mushroom. That right there makes for a perfect day in the woods and if processed correctly some good meals. Also a nice photo.
Don't just throw it on the grill... get creative.
